Millis confirms data center ban after AG review

Planning Board · Meeting of September 15, 2026

Millis Planning Board confirms data centers stay banned as state AG clears zoning bylaws. The board reported the attorney general's office approved, after months of delay, both a data-center prohibition and a battery-storage siting bylaw passed at Spring Town Meeting, though the AG warned setbacks can't be so strict they effectively block solar-linked storage under the Dover Amendment. Members continued a 22-unit senior housing hearing at 325 Village Street and a contested 44-lot Woodlands subdivision, where neighbor Mitch Bobinski warned "we're going to have all sorts of traffic," to October 13.

The Select Board is weighing a $200,000 payment from Woodlands' developer in lieu of a required soccer field. The board also approved a special permit letting Pete's RV service trailers and motorhomes at 1465 Main Street, capping storage within 80 feet of a rear wetland and barring vehicle washing until new wastewater infrastructure is installed.
