School Building Committee · Meeting of October 14, 2026

MILLIS — The Millis School Building Committee voted unanimously to release early trade bid packages for the middle school renovation project. Vertex managing director Jeff introduced new project executive Ted Gentry and reported bids go live October 16 with a November 6 due date. Members approved $7,500 for exploratory wall-tile and cabinet-hinge testing and set aside $45,000 for temporary central administration offices at Town Hall, after cost estimates from town employee Mike Kaczynski.

Construction manager representative Adam presented a revised phasing schedule pushing the renovated wing's turnover from February to April 2029, which Fontaine said would not delay the project's late summer 2029 completion date. Committee member Jim Nichols criticized state rules making central-administration space ineligible for reimbursement, calling it "a great policy from the state" sarcastically. The committee also approved invoices totaling $324,879, including $271,950 to architectural firm Tappe.
